Born on 04/04/1981 in Ashdod.
Drafted to the IDF in March 2000, completed training in the Combat Engineering School, and was assigned to the 603rd Engineering Battalion. Aviv left for Officers course and returned to the Combat Engineering School as a platoon officer. He was later assigned to be a team leader in the 720th Regional Division and finally as the counter tunnelling officer in the 643rd Regional Division near the Gaza Strip.
Aviv was killed in action on 12/05/2004 together with his soldiers Staff Sergeant Lior Vishinski and Staff Sergeant Zohar Smilaiev, as well as Master Sergeant Amin Gadir and Sergeant Elad Cohen, close to the Philadelphi route near the Gazan border town of Rafiach.
Buried in Ashdod aged 23.
Aviv was posthumously awarded the Chief of Southern Command’s citation on 12/12/2004 for his work as the counter tunnelling officer in the Gaza Division.
Captain Aviv is survived by his parents and two sisters.
